My desired result of this poster series is to have a person who may not be educated on anything poetry or just wants to try something new, will be intrigued and excited to go to this event based on my research of the poet's writing and reforms.
poet Research

mindmapping and type reasearch

After learning about each poet, I made a mind map based on their commonalities. This helped me develop a better understanding of what they were trying to communicate and how I wanted to portray each individual while keeping a cohesive system. I also researched different typefaces that showed the Midwest and Ohio since all of these poets were based in Ohio at some point.
design workshops
Starting with physical creations of concepts, I was trying to convey by collaging and creating. I then worked on digital directions based on the design workshop outcomes.

early Design systems

poster iteration
Once I had decided on a direction, I further iterated, making small changes and keeping the overall consistency of the composition. I focused on one poet's poster before making the system of all 3 work together.

refinement
The poets' individual poems that spoke the most to me were put into the back of the posters to add texture and also emphasize the idea that they challenge conventions. I did this by challenging a conventional grid, legibility, and structure. I also chose to stick to bold colors and typefaces to show activism. I also chose certain colors based on each feeling the poets evoked.

final poster series
The main idea is to communicate subversion (to raise, intentional disruption, changing conventions) in which I thought the poets did with their work. The word unbound is also found throughout all 3 posters because of the unboundness of each poet's work. The small detail added of a glitch is to show intentional disruption and emphasize the idea of subversion.
