Epoch is an urban sports magazine about the evolution of iconic uniforms, merging history and sports fashion that evokes vibrancy and legacy.
Part 1: Word Mark Design
Developing a wordmark was the first step to curating the essential communication of the publication. A mixture of old-style and modern typefaces was made to meet the idea of continuity through history. Curating the innate feeling of connection of time, fashion, history, and sports.
Part 2: Publication Design
Elements
To maintain consistency throughout the magazine, I outlined design elements. Sticking to a bold yet nostalgic red with fragmentation and separation to disconnect the viewer, making them yearn for that connection.
Iterations
After developing a system, an interview and a feature article were made, along with an issue cover and table of contents for this issue.
The final layout uses horizontal lines and overlapping imagery across spreads to emphasize continuity throughout this evolution. The weaving of type and text reflects the weaving of history and connection.
