PART 1: Creature mark
Research
Before choosing my creature I gathered information about my choices and learned about their characteristics, attributes, and associative traits. I chose a toucan as my creature and designed my Creature Mark off a circular structure.

SKETCHING
I studied the creatures with their most prominent features using sketching as a base to go forward digitally. After sketching and more deliberation, I decided to focus on the Toucan because of its distinct physical and personal characteristics.
Digital Iterations
I then worked on developing a strong digital mark and iterated until I felt my mark emphasized my associative and physical characteristics strongly.

Part 2: Interpretive Phase with Mark
As the second part of this project, using the associative and physical characteristics of my creature, a partner created a phrase that would be interpreted into a Fibonacci sequence composition.
Early Iterations
Using the phrases created, I created ideas focusing on creating typographical movement with a small kit of parts.
Color studies
Once focusing on one phrase and font that I felt had the same playful and organic feeling as a toucan would, I started exploring different color palettes. I chose colors that are loud and bold while keeping the tropical origins of a toucan. I also made sure to make the beak stand out in a bright orange, like toucans typically have in real life, since it is one of their most prominent features.
more iterations
Working on emphasizing certain words with arrangement and color, I explored how the differences affected the viewers' reading and viewing experience.
Making intentional choices like making the word "loud" bigger because of its inherent feeling of being in your face, and tracking out the word "lively" to emphasize the idea of movement, led to the final outcome of my creature mark. I also chose my colors to show the unique boldness of this creature, while it does not overwhelm the viewer.
